HAIR REGIME FOR NEWBIES

Okay before I start let me just share my excitement @ having my sis @ home today! We've made puff puff and had it with ice cream :) ( Puff puff= Nigerian doughnuts in a nutshell!), watched the blind side starring Sandra Bullock ( bleeding fantabulastic movie) and now we're eating lasagne with hopes of downing some pounded yam and ogbono soup in a few hours (another Nigerian delicacy).... mmm and newsflash everything = HOMEMADE BABY!!! :)

YUMMYYY!

Anyway...moving on to la point. A few friends have asked about my hair regime and I'm thinking hmm I posted it! But of course blonde old me didn't realize that I was exactly the same when I started this hair journey thing in Nov 09.

So blabbering over...here is what I would consider a good starter regime. I say starter because from here you can observe what ur hair likes, loves or dislikes and then decide on what it needs next.

Getting Started....Make a regimen....
Before you start remember to take a note of what you use and how your hair reacts, and as Traycee would say... 'Have patience...Nothing happens overnight'.

Things you will need ..You only need one of each...Don't go wild ...

Moisturizing Shampoo- Creme of nature ( I use the orange bottle- but all are great)
Protein Conditioner- Aphogee 2 min re-constructor
Moisturizing Conditioner- Tres Semme salon silk
Leave-In Conditioner- Aussie Miracle insurance leave in
Moisturizer- S curl no drip or Herbal essences beautiful ends cream
Scalp cream: 100% Castor oil ( in the UK we mainly have west Indian black Castor oil...its thick n doesn't smell great but it's great for thickness and growth)
Oils- 100% Coconut oil
Heat Protector- Elasta QP design silk

Pics below in same order as above ( no pic of 100% coconut oil or 100% castor oil because they are too many diff types u can buy @ an Asian or African hair shop)

Regime: (once a week)
1)Wash hair with a Moisturizing Shampoo
2) then...Do the quick 2 min protein condition using the Aphogee then wash out
3) then...Deep condition with your conditioner for 30 mins to an 1 hour then rinse
4) (Towel) dry hair and apply leave-in conditioner and set hair (if using heat..use heat protector)
5) Moisturize ends daily with moisturizer and then apply oil to seal in moisture.
6) For your scalp, try Castor oil for thickness and growth but beware its very thick so just a tad bit will do :)

Notes:
* I wash my hair every week but not always with shampoo. 2 weeks out of the 4 in a month I use my conditioner as shampoo- this is because too much shampoo strips needed nitrients from our hair
 * I always pre poo. This is coating my hair with oils and/or conditioner before washing it. I do this for like 30 mins before I wash or even over night. I guess just to feed my hair before washing it.
*  I never use a towel to dry my hair I use an old rag t-shirt. This is because most towels dry out our hair too much.
* I rollerset after every wash. Either under a dryer or if i have the whole day I airdry. Only use my straighteners on my roots when my hair is due.
* Finally I always add coconut oil or extra virgin olive oil to my conditioner.

  4. hey i like your regimen, but one question, how do you deal with the product build up since you only wash your hair once a week and do not co wash in the middle of the week?i am working n i guess i would need to freshen up my hair to make it look good during the week.any tips?

  5. Hey :)

I never get product build up as such. My hair copes well without being washed at max 2 weeks, i begin to get scalp build up and weighed down hair at this point.

Before then i use all my products in small amounts so as to not weigh down my hair.

I find that wrapping my hair and lightly moisturising and sealing keeps it looking very fresh everyday. Of course if you don't wrap i would say minimize the amounts you currently use and see how that works to begin with. If that doesn't work, i may be nice to change you products and find a lighter moisturiser

    :) Hope this helps
