One, I still love the stuff, just in smaller doses
A month ago I challenged myself to a month of weekly baggying in order to maintain moisture levels in my hair. With winter here to stay and central heating crunked all the way up, I wanted to take extra measures to ensure my hair would not be a victim of the increased exposure to dry air. So twice a week I would spray my hair with a light moisturising spritz [Rose Water and Aloe Vera Juice with some drops of Argan Oil], and would then top it off with a light helping of Coconut Oil to seal everything in. Nothing unusual so far right?
By wash day of week one I found that my hair felt a lot coarser than usual, and detangling it in prep for my pre-poo treatment wasn’t the pleasant affair that it usually is. I couldn’t quite put my finger on it because I have never had issues with Coconut Oil. My hair was now snapping at the slightest tug and I was far from amused. I assumed my moisture levels were super low because of the weather and so decided to let my moisturising DC sit in for a bit longer. Of course curiosity killed the cat and I couldn’t help but try to baggy again!
Did anything change? Nope, another wash day was spent trying not to ‘ouch’ and ‘eek’ over the pain as I carefully detangled my way through each section of hair.
So what could it have been?
You live and you learn!
Has anyone else found Coconut Oil to sometimes be a miss?
