A few weeks ago I mentioned I had started a new routine in my life otherwise known as the ‘Miracle Morning’, being out of work can definitely zap motivation out of someone who has been used to working since the age of sixteen, so I figured it would be best to keep myself as busy as possible whilst the job hunt continues. One of the main ways to do this would be to dedicate more time to blogging and pretty much anything LYT related, so I put together a new editorial calendar for the blog, and before I knew it I had pages upon pages of ideas, and a whole bunch of deadlines. Two weeks later I found myself swamped and unable to finish anything I had started in the time frame I had set, and then I discovered the ‘Miracle Morning‘.
“How you wake up each day and your morning routine (or lack thereof) dramatically affects your levels of success in every single area of your life. Focused, productive, successful mornings generate focused, productive, successful days — which inevitably create a successful life — in the same way that unfocused, unproductive, and mediocre mornings generate unfocused, unproductive, and mediocre days, and ultimately a mediocre quality of life. By simply changing the way you wake up in the morning, you can transform any area of your life, faster than you ever thought possible.”
[Excerpt from the book that had me sold on the Miracle Morning concept!]
My inability to achieve what I had set out to boiled down to two things, time management and motivation, two things that the Miracle Morning deals with head on. In the coming days I’ll be sharing my Miracle Morning routine with you in photos, but till then here is the breakdown.
Before Miracle Morning
7:00 – 8:30 – Still sleeping
8:30 – Wakeup
After Miracle Morning
7:00 – Wakeup
7:00 – 7:15 – Silence [I have chosen this to represent Prayer]
7:15 – 7:20 – Affirmations [speaking positive things into my marriage and text messages to family/friends]
7:20 – 7:25 – Visualization [looking at Bullet Journal or private ‘Life I Want To Live’ Pinterest board
7:25 – 7:45 – Exercise [yoga/flexibility stretches]
7:45 – 8:05 – SHOWER BREAK [this short slot has taught me how to perfect my 5 min makeup face!!!]
8:05 – 8:25 – Read [current book rotation]
8:25 – 8:30 – Scribbing [quickly jot down my Bullet Journal daily tasks]
It blows my mind to know how much I have been able to achieve in just a few days of starting this routine. Even if my daily to do lists are not completed there is always a sense of accomplishment at the end of the day, just from having completed my Miracle Morning S.A.V.E.R.S. Now I know the thought may have crossed some of your minds, ‘How does the Miracle Morning work for someone who actually goes to work?’, I thought the exact the same thing and here’s the answer: The 6 Minute Miracle Morning!
