Notice anything new? Well, I thought it was high time the blog had a spring clean. The older I get the pickier I am about how the blog looks and the content I’m putting out. I rescheduled a dinner date with one of my friends last week because all I wanted to do after work was rush home, speak to my web designer, and continue to work on all of the changes I had planned to make on the blog. That’s how much this little hobby of mine has come to mean to me!
For those of you that don’t know I’ve been blogging for over 6 years, and this year more than ever I wanted to throw in the towel, (I won’t bore you with the details but blogging requires a lot time and dedication, and I just wasn’t sure I could commit to it and be happily married at the same time!!) Nevertheless I’m sure you’ve already gathered I’ve decided to keep on keeping on, and I say this with a smile on my face, God has a funny way of redirecting you and encouraging you when things aren’t working out how you want them to. I’m quite sure this year I’ve met more readers and subscribers than I have in the past 2/3 years. The encouragement I get and hair journey testimonials based on me just sharing what I love to share, have been so inspiring, and remind me that my giving up would be a disappointment even if to just one person.
So here I am, a few blog changes later, excited and feeling brand new.
I’ve never done this on the blog but I thought I’d show my new subscribers and also much-loved long term subscribers where everything is, so here goes my attempt at navigating you around the new blog layout!
1:1 Hair Advice
I’m excited to introduce a new 1:1 hair advice service to the blog. Whilst there is a wealth of information on how to build regimens, which products to use, how to care for natural hair etc, I know that even this wealth of information can be overwhelming for some, so the service is for those who have given up or need that extra bit of help with their hair journeys.
Haircare, Beauty, Lifestyle, Fashion
Probably the biggest change of all has to be the category photos, a genius idea whose credit goes to an ex-colleague become close friend (thank you Yani!). I doubt this needs much of an explanation, just feel free to click and see where each category takes you!
I’ve moved over to Mailchimp guys! After almost 3 months of going back and forth I finally decided to give in. Mailchimp for those who aren’t familiar is an email marketing service. Unlike Feedburner (the service I was using before), it sends updates in a more appealing and user-friendly format. It also allows for you to select which information you want to receive in your inbox as a subscriber, e.g. weekly LYT blog posts and/or exclusive discount codes and giveaways on a monthly basis.
Now I hope you don’t mind but as we’re on the topic of ‘subscribing’, I figured a shameless plug woulnd’t hurt, if you haven’t already joined my awesome subscriber family it’s never too late! To keep up to date with my hair and life musings be sure to sign up here.
Last but not least I made some changes to the blog sidebar. I’ve added a segment called ‘currently trending’ which shows the most read blog posts in the last 24-48 hours. Directly beneath this you’ll find ‘discussed topics’ and the blog ‘archive’, both of these sections will lead you to pages upon pages of blog posts and topics that I hope you’ll enjoy.
So that’s it from me, thank you so much for bearing with me whilst the blog went offline. I hope you like the changes as much as I do!
